Resumen:
Fairy tales and folk stories are often children's first contact with the world of literature. It is in this first phase that the child is faced with the most diverse feminine archetypes that are presented in these texts: witches, princesses, pure and virtuous maidens, kind mothers, evil stepmothers, among others. In this bibliographical research we propose to carry out a comparative study of the female characters of fairy tales, their representation in traditional tales and adaptations animated films produced by Walt Disney Studios. The corpus selected for this purpose are the short stories "Sun, Moon and Talia" (1634) by Jean Baptiste Basile and "Rapunzel" (1825) by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm as examples of classic tales. From the animations produced by Walt Disney, we selected "Sleeping Beauty" (1959) and "Tangled" (2010). Our theoretical foundation is based on Bruno Bettelheim (1980; 2010), Novaes Coelho (1993) and Beauvoir (1980) works, among other scholars. Results indicate that the representation of female characters in animations, if compared to those on classical texts, follow the new configurations of women in contemporary times.
