Resumen:
The bidding process is a fundamental step in public management, allowing the acquisition of goods and services in a transparent and efficient manner. Within this context, electronic and in-person auctions represent two distinct modalities of bidding widely used in Brazil. However, the choice between these modalities can significantly impact the results and efficiency of government purchases. In this sense, the present work comparatively analyzed the electronic and in-person auction processes of the Caraúbas City Hall, Paraíba, during the year 2023. Seeking to identify the advantages and disadvantages of each modality, focusing on aspects such as efficiency, costs, and transparency. The methodology employed was deductive, using bibliographic, documentary, and official database research to access numbers related to municipal auctions. Based on the data collected, a comparison was made between the two modalities. Regarding the analysis method, quantitative methods were used. After analyzing the results, it is concluded that electronic bidding emerges as the most advantageous bidding modality for public administration, as it presents less time for the completion of the process and greater reductions in purchasing costs, in addition to promoting greater transparency in the bidding process.
