Thrombocytopenia was defined as a platelet count below 150,000/mm3, and when it is induced
by drugs, it can be due to immune, non-immune causes and drug-dependent antibodies, causing
serious problems for patients seeking to treat other diseases. This disorder can increase
bleeding, making bleeding frequent and even causing thrombosis. The objective of this work
was to carry out a survey of studies regarding thrombocytopenia induced by drugs and their
drug classes. To this end, an integrative review was carried out in the databases: Scielo,
Pubmed, Lilacs and Periódicos Capes, using a combination of keywords. 20,956 publications
were identified in the databases, and after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 536
articles remained for complete reading, resulting in 40 articles selected to compose the present
study, these being from the period from 1971 to 2024. In the results, 13 were highlighted.

and hypoglycemics. Which demonstrated, according to the literature, a rare potential, but with
enormous danger of inducing thrombocytopenia as an adverse effect. Therefore, it is of public
benefit to highlight thrombocytopenia as a dangerous adverse effect, and which medications
induce this blood dyscrasia, in addition to highlighting diagnosis and maintenance, helping
health professionals with regard to monitoring the patient from the beginning of taking of the
new drug, demonstrating that correct pharmaceutical assistance can save lives.
