The aim of this work is to present a study on youth protagonism as an agent of social transformation based on our involvement with social movements, directly with the Articulation of Peasant Youth Association (AJC), in order to understand the importance of protagonism based on initiatives led by young people in the rural communities accompanied by the association, to reflect on protagonism as an educational action and to understand the challenges faced by young people. Thus, the methodology for our research was qualitative and descriptive, seeking to get closer to the object of the research through interviews with young protagonists of the AJC, using a semi-structured questionnaire. The theoretical basis was based on Silva (2015), Costa (2006), Souza (2009) and Groppo (2017). Regarding the debate on Education and Youth in the countryside, we brought Silva (2006), (2007), Caldart (2009), Castro (2012), (2009), Freire (2005), Gohn (2010), Arroyo (2007) and others. In this way, we sought to recognize and value young people's contributions to society, as well as the possibilities for education. The results of the research were considered satisfactory, as we analyzed the importance of the contribution of young people in the search for social policies and rights. We observed that young people are still struggling to gain credibility, but their actions have given visibility to incessant mobilization, especially in the field of education, resulting in young people's autonomy and protagonism. We conclude that the issue is relevant in the academic field and needs to be highlighted more, especially with regard to rural youth.
