Resumo:
The aim of this work is to write sociology teaching material for the sixth year of
elementary school. Sociology is subject to instability in terms of its permanence as a
component of secondary education, and in this same perspective some Brazilian
municipalities, such as: Remígio, in Paraíba; Belém, in Pará; São Leopoldo, in Rio
Grande do Sul; Sobral in Ceará; Rio de Janeiro, in the state of the same name, have
implemented the subject in their elementary school curricula in the final years.
However, because it does not have a national curriculum matrix, unlike other
traditional components, sociology in elementary school is a challenge for teachers,
as the choice and study of the content to be taught and worked on in the classroom
is left to the teacher, who has to adapt the content based on the curriculum proposal
for secondary school. This research has shown that there are few experiences and a
lack of appropriate teaching material for the stage of education in question, which is
why we believe it is important to produce the material we are looking for. In the
theoretical framework, we worked on elucidating the content relevant to the material
as a way of introducing students to this scientific field and curricular component. We
began by analyzing the materials already produced on the subject, for the stage of
education in question, then went on to investigate and substantiate the content to be
worked on, followed by the preparation of the material. A survey of teachers and
sociology graduates was proposed to evaluate the material produced. The survey
returned an acceptance of the material by the participating public, with the necessary
caveats. We intend to continue the research in order to enrich and improve the
material already produced and to produce new materials on different themes,
persisting with the aim of helping teachers in the sociology component of primary
education.
