Resumen:
In social movements, there are propagation techniques and political engagement that involve a
very broad arsenal attached to the body of a militant, which serve as identification and
representation with their causes and movements, a body-flag relationship. This work addresses
performance as a tool of political struggle in youth militancy, based on the use of Agitação e
Propaganda (AgitProp) and Mystique, two techniques used in left-wing social movements. This
work is crossed by the Covid-19 pandemic, in this context, the social movements that
historically use the street as a stage for claiming, have adapted their strategies to expand their
activities in cyberspace, through social networks, which is constituted in contemporary times
as a fundamental means in the concreteness of the great mobilizations of the Brazilian youth.
This research aims to understand the use of AgitProp and Mystique in politically engaged youth,
finding in artistic and communication tools a way to research the body performance of militant
youth. It mobilizes elements to think about the meanings produced in militant performances,
such as the visibility of subaltern youth identities and the role of digital technologies in the
production and execution of political action. It is used as a research clipping, the performance
of the Levante Popular da Juventude movement, focusing on the city of Campina Grande/PB.
In the methodological path, the theoretical discussion addresses the implications of a militant
researcher (GOSS E PRUDÊNCIO, 2004) in participant observation (INGOLD, 2016;
CLIFFORD, 2002; PACHECO DE OLIVEIRA, 2013; GEERTZ, 2001; STRATHERN, 2014,
LAVE, 2015 ; ABU-LUGHOD, 2018), mobilizing the ideas of coloniality (GONZALES, 1980;
QUIJANO, 2005; AGUIAR, 2021) “learning how/in practice” (LAVE, 2015) and “knowing
from within” (INGOLD, 2011) . The analyzes are produced from the lyrics of songs from the
popular songbook, photographic records of the movement and the virtual act #AdiaEnem. The
pedagogical, cultural and educommunicative character of the youth militant performance is
evident.
