Abstract:
Teacher illness is considered a relevant issue in the conception of the world of work, since the teacher seeks personal and professional fulfillment in this profession, mediated by overcoming and pleasure. This is qualitative research in relation to its purposes, and using state-of-the-art research as a model and, using the phenomenological method of analysis, the objective was to analyze the articles and dissertations that addressed the theme: mental illness in teaching work when investigating how this phenomenon was shown in the research carried out and respond to the following research question: What is shown as a phenomenon of illness among elementary school teachers in the early years of Escola Professora Zélia Braz (name of the school) in the Municipality of Sumé? Access to the scientific works analyzed was through an advanced search in the virtual library: SciELO.org and Google Scholar, being analyzed from a phenomenological perspective, that is, seeking to understand how the research phenomenon showed itself in its essence. Eight articles and two dissertations were studied, in total, published in the period between: 2018 to 2022, using the filter of the main research descriptor: teacher illness. As a result of investigation, what has been shown as a phenomenon in academic work is that there is a scientific concern about the process of illness among teaching professionals when considering the vulnerability that their academic activities expose them daily, without a commitment within the scope of public policies to restore the precarious conditions of their work activities. Therefore, what is indicated as a path: is the urgent promotion of speeches that aim to promote targeted actions at school by public authorities in federal, state and municipal scope, as well as in private schools, as well as in private schools, to prevent mental illness among teachers in their work environment.
