Economic changes, social demands and government changes have motivated transformations in the public sphere, in order to increase efficiency in public administration actions. University management is part of the focus of discussions on modernization, public efficiency, innovation and the search for maximizing user satisfaction. The objective of this study is to analyze research on university management, on the Web of Science and Scopus platforms - between 1970 and 2020 - and relate findings with the budget execution - from 2019 to 2022 - of the Center for Sustainable Development of the Semi-Arid – CDSA/UFCG. This is research with a qualitative approach, based on theory related to organizational dynamics in the academic, public and higher education settings. As results, we have the exposure of relevant diagnoses on studies involving university management. It is observed that there are budgetary actions in the CDSA that combine with the perspectives of university management identified in the bibliometric analysis, however, there are axes with budgetary actions discontinued in the subsequent years evaluated. It is concluded that such actions can act as drivers for new investments and continuity in the implementation of public educational policies, which aim to satisfy academics and increase efficiency, It was also possible to see through the efforts presented that the respective campus carries out budgetary actions aimed at efficiency and satisfaction.
