Résumé:
This work describes an experience in the Pedagogical Residency Program in the Lesson Study
(LS) process. LS is a formative process of professional development that involves three
stages: planning, execution and reflection on classes. Our objective is to analyze contributions
to student learning based on an exploratory approach to teaching distance between a point and
a straight line in the Lesson Study process. This work follows a qualitative descriptive
approach. The experience described here was applied to a 3rd grade high school class in a
comprehensive public school located in the Curimataú region, in Paraíba. The results obtained
showed that the lesson plan was successful and we achieved the proposed objectives. The
class proved to be effective and productive, so much so that the students were able to carry
out the proposed exercise using the formula to calculate the distance from a point to a straight
line. We can conclude that the exploratory approach was satisfactory in enabling students to
develop problem-solving skills, promoting learning. The Lesson Study provided collaboration
between residents and boosted maturity in professional practice. Furthermore, working with
Lesson Study proved to be quite enriching, leading future teachers to reflect and improve the
teaching and learning process.
