Resumo:
A scenario of political dispute was formed
from two paradigms, one that ights against drought and one that coexists with the semiarid region, generating diferent narratives
based on statistical knowledge to be validated or rejected. The paradigm of combating drought proved corrupt and inefective,
placing the Brazilian Semiarid in a context
of neglect, with the absence of public policies. The paradigm of coexistence with the
semiarid, on the contrary, seeks to rescue
respect for the cultural diversities of the
various existing peoples and territories, the
sustainability of water resources, the relationship with nature and agroecological
practices, coexistence technologies, and
food sovereignty. This intense context of dispute requires the development of skills that
enable a new way of experiencing the current world consciously in the face of what
occurs with a critical and relective posture.
An important element with the potential to
develop critical attitudes and empowerment
is statistical literacy, which is related to attitudes towards statistical information that
we surround daily and how we deal critically with graphs, tables, and other statistical elements. In this sense, the objective of
this chapter is to bring a problematization
that indicates a theoretical-methodological
path that can relate a process of continuing education based on statistical literacy and contextualized with the assumptions of
the paradigm of coexistence with the semiarid region.
