dc.description.resumo A dismenorreia é um dos problemas mais frequentes apresentados por mulheres, e pode ser subsequente à uma tensão pré-menstrual, além de trazer consequências tanto no período menstrual quanto ao longo de toda vida reprodutiva. Algumas plantas medicinais podem ter efeitos benéficos para a saúde da mulher como ajudar a regular a menstruação, aliviar as cólicas, combater os sintomas da menopausa e prevenir doenças ginecológicas. Dessa maneira, o uso de plantas medicinais para alívio dos sintomas aliado aos saberes populares é uma prática terapêutica comum entre as mulheres. Neste contexto, a pesquisa teve por objetivo levantar informações acerca do conhecimento popular adquirido pelas mulheres a respeito da utilização dos vegetais no manejo dos sintomas da dismenorreia. A metodologia correspondeu a um estudo transversal, quali-quantitativo e do tipo descritivo, cujo seguimento amostral foram habitantes do povoado Espinheiro, localizado na zona rural do município de Remanso - BA. Foram coletadas informações por meio da aplicação de questionários com perguntas socioepidemiológicas e sobre o uso de plantas medicinais para tratamento da dismenorreia. A amostra foi composta por 28 mulheres, com idade variando de 21 à 69 anos e faixa etária prevalente entre 41 a 60 anos (50%) e ensino fundamental (50%), 75% eram aposentadas, com renda de até 3 salários-mínimos e até 3 convivas por residência. Todas as entrevistadas relataram o uso de mais de uma planta para alívio dos sintomas da dismenorreia. Foram citadas 29 plantas, com destaque para hortelã (n=19), arruda (n=14), erva cidreira e umburana-de- cheiro (n=12), quitoco e losna (n=10). As folhas foram a parte mais utilizada e o chá a única forma de preparo citada. Dessa forma, observou-se predomínio do uso terapêutico de plantas medicinais para alívio dos sintomas. Cerca de 17,9% das entrevistadas afirmaram fazer uso concomitante com medicamentos sintéticos. Considerando as espécies vegetais como principal opção terapêutica para a condição de dismenorreia, ressalta-se a importância da presente pesquisa, para a conservação e valorização do saber popular e destaca-se a urgência da implementação estratégias de promoção do uso racional de plantas medicinais, conforme previsto na Política Nacional de Plantas Medicinais e Fitoterápicos. pt_BR

dc.description.abstract Dysmenorrhea is one of the most frequent problems presented by women, and can be caused by premenstrual tension, in addition to having consequences both during the menstrual period and throughout reproductive life. Some medicinal plants can have beneficial effects on women's health, such as helping to regulate menstruation, relieve cramps, combat menopausal symptoms and prevent gynecological diseases. Therefore, the use of medicinal plants to relieve symptoms combined with popular knowledge is a common therapeutic practice among women. In this context, the research aimed to gather information about the popular knowledge acquired by women regarding the use of vegetables in managing the symptoms of dysmenorrhea. The methodology corresponded to a cross-sectional, qualitative-quantitative and descriptive study, whose sample follow-up was inhabitants of the village Espinheiro, located in the rural area of the municipality of Remanso - BA. Information was collected through the application of questionnaires with socio-epidemiological questions and on the use of medicinal plants to treat dysmenorrhea. The sample was composed of 28 women, with ages ranging from 21 to 69 years and a prevalent age group between 41 and 60 years (50%) and primary education (50%), 75% were retired, with income of up to 3 minimum wages. and up to 3 guests per residence. All interviewees reported using more than one plant to relieve dysmenorrhea symptoms. 29 plants were mentioned, with emphasis on mint (n=19), rue (n=14), lemon balm and umburana-de- cheiro (n=12), quitoco and wormwood (n=10). The leaves were the most used part and tea was the only form of preparation mentioned. Thus, there was a predominance of therapeutic use of medicinal plants to alleviate symptoms. Around 17.9% of those interviewed stated that they used synthetic medicines concomitantly. Considering plant species as the main therapeutic option for the dysmenorrhea condition, this research importance is highlighted for the conservation and valorization of popular knowledge and the urgency of implementing strategies to promote the rational use of medicinal plants is highlighted, as per provided for in the National Policy on Medicinal Plants and Phytotherapeutics. pt_BR
