Abstract:
This monograph aims to analyze the challenges of social workers in health policy around the theme on the considerations about professional work in this environment, in which it proposes the historical path of the profession in society. For this, the methodology of bibliographic
research was used with review of the literature present in books, articles, theses, websites, in
addition, the research was conducted of a qualitative character, in order to support the context of the exemption of the professional as a specialization of collective work and the trajectory of the construction of Social Work in the field of health and its professional work, with the
rise of the health reform in which brought great changes in health policy in Brazil, and later was established in the federal Constitution of 1988, health being the right of all, consolidating itself in the creation of the SUS. Thus, it is worth reflecting on the parameters that should be
applied in professional performance, and the setbacks and challenges that the profession has
been facing, it is necessary to address how the profession originates in the context of the
struggles of the working class and the State, and the process of its construction in society, with the ethical-political project of the profession and the relationship of the Social Worker with the curricular guidelines and the theoretical-methodological, ethical-political and technical-operational dimensions. Therefore, it is relevant to contextualize the social service
in public health and discuss the challenges and possibilities of the work of the social worker in this area, highlighting the importance of debating and reflecting on the parameters that guide this professional performance. In addition, it is essential to discuss the convergences
between the principles of the Unified Health System (SUS) and the work of the social worker in the area of health, highlighting how these principles guide professional practice and guarantee the right to health for all citizens.
