Abstract:
This work had the general objective of understanding how the history and culture of a
quilombola community is worked within the school located in its territory. To help us along the
way, we set out the following points as specific objectives: to analyze how the culture and
history of a remaining quilombola community is taught in the local school and to compare how
the pedagogical practice of quilombola and non-quilombola teachers who work in a school
takes place. located in a remaining quilombo territory. This is qualitative research. We worked
on the concept of culture with Diana (2012), Quilombola School Education for Brazil (2021)
and teacher training with Lima (2021). We are also based on the National Curricular Guidelines
related to ethnic-racial issues. The research was carried out at the Firmo Santino da Silva
Municipal School, located in the quilombola community Caiana dos Crioulos, in the
municipality of Alagoa Grande-PB. Three teachers were interviewed, one from early childhood
education, one from elementary school I and another from elementary school II in basic
education, two quilombolas and one non-quilombola. Through the analyses, we realized the
importance of valuing culture in the school environment, as well as the need for adequate
training for the teachers who participate in it, aiming for a more effective educational process
focused on ethnic-racial and quilombola issues.
