Resumo:
The present work has the general objective of analyzing how citizenship training
takes place in the subjects of Fundamentals of Education, offered by the
Pedagogy course at CFP-UFCG, (Campus de Cajazeiras-PB, high backlands of
Paraíba) and justifying the starting from the desire to understand how the
Fundamentals of Education disciplines contribute to the citizenship training of
future pedagogues. What motivated it was the difficulties faced in the Pedagogy
course regarding understanding political and social concepts present in the
academic texts worked on and in the discussions promoted in the classroom;
non-compliance with participatory demands during classes and/or academic
events held at the university, with regard to expressing opinions, taking positions
and taking a critical stance in academic debates; the political polarization
experienced with great intensity in 2022 during the presidential election period,
but which began in previous years. In this research, we seek to answer the
following problematizing question: are the students of the aforementioned
Pedagogy course receiving an education that enables awareness and reiterates
this individual about citizenship training? The methodology adopted was a
qualitative approach, with a field study, using individual interviews as a data
collection instrument, in a semi-structured format. The interview was carried out
(remotely) with six students from the Pedagogy course who had already taken
the Fundamentals of Education subjects. The main references that gave
theoretical support to this investigation were the following authors: Carlos
Rodrigues Brandão (1995); Paulo Freire (2002); Ester Buffa, Miguel Arroyo and
Paolo Nosella (2003); Aida Maria Monteiro Silva (2000), among others. The
context of this investigation involves the research spaces of the Teacher Training
Center at the Federal University of Campina Grande, located in the city of
Cajazeiras. From the analysis of the data, it was possible to perceive that there
is a recognition among the students that the fundamental subjects of education
provided them with the opportunity to make positive contributions in their process
of building citizenship. However, civic practices among students in the academic
field are still subject to the permission of teachers.
