Abstract:
The present work aimed to evaluate the effects of free and protected lysine in
carnauba wax associated with tannin from Mimosa tenuiflora in the sheep diet on
performance, nutrient digestibility, nitrogen balance, ingestive behavior,
biochemical parameters and carcass quality. and Santa Inês sheep meat. Forty
animals were used for the performance stage, with an average of 120 days of
age and 23 ± 1.2 kg of live weight, distributed in four treatments (0.0% lysine; free
lysine in the diet; lysine microencapsulated in wax carnauba; and
microencapsulated lysine in carnauba wax associated with tannin extract from
jurema preta, with ten repetitions. For the nutrient digestibility and nitrogen
balance stage, 24 animals were used, divided into four treatments, with 6
replications. There was no influence (p > 0.05) of the treatments on the
performance of the animals for GPT, GPMD, Ing. MS, CA and EA. In terms of
consumption, there was the same behavior for both treatments, where only the
free lysine treatment showed the lowest consumption of ether extract. For nutrient
digestibility indices, there was no difference for DigMS, DigMM, DigMO, DigEE,
DigFDN and DigCHT. For DigPB and DigCNF, the control treatments, wax+lysine
and wax+lysine+tannin showed the best rates. In the nitrogen balance, the same
behavior occurred between treatments, for Ning, Nfezes, Nurina, Nabs and
Nretido. In terms of biochemical parameters, there was similar behavior in
animals from both treatments, and the variables remained within reference limits.
For the analysis of ingestive behavior, there was no difference (p > 0.05) between
treatments, for number, time, chewing, ingestion, rumination and idleness per
minute. There was no difference (p > 0.05) between treatments for carcass
characteristics and physical-chemical parameters of the meat among the
treatments tested. The inclusion of essential amino acids (lysine) in free or
protected forms in carnauba wax, associated or not with tannin from Jurema
Preta, did not promote changes in the performance characteristics and quality of
the carcass and meat of crossbred sheep in confinement.
