Resumo:
Neuroscience is an interdisciplinary field of knowledge that permeates the study of the
nervous system, especially the human brain. This area of knowledge has advanced
significantly in recent years, bringing numerous contributions to education, as it provides the
teacher with a greater understanding of the cognitive development of students, cooperating
with the construction of more appropriate and assertive pedagogical practices in the
educational context, for through a more scientific approach to the teaching and learning
process. Knowledge about brain functioning and how information is processed and stored in
the brain allows the educator to enhance learning and mediate the promotion of quality
teaching. In this sense, the study aimed to understand the contributions of Neuroscience to
the pedagogical practice of teachers in the early years of Elementary School. To this end,
field research was carried out, using a qualitative approach, through participant observation,
a training workshop on the foundations of Neuroscience and its applications in the
educational context, and a semi-structured interview applied to the teachers participating in
the research. The sample was composed of 03 (three) teachers from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd
years of the initial years of Elementary School at a municipal public school. The main authors
who supported the research were: Costa (2023); Silva (2023); Relvas (2018, 2023); Grossi,
Lago (et al, 2021); Souza and Freitas (2020); Marques (2016); Lopes and Couto (2014);
Cosenza and Guerra (2011); Carvalho (2011), among others. The research results
demonstrated that Neuroscience can contribute to the development of more effective
teaching strategies, as it seeks to equip educators by understanding the neural processes
responsible for learning, and collaborate with the improvement and adaptation of pedagogical
practices that meet the difficulties and needs of each student. It was also verified the need for
more attention to be given to this area of knowledge, so that its studies and contributions are
more publicized and accessible to all teachers.
