The aim of this study was to study the influence of Erva-cidreira as
a phytogenic additive in the feeding of dairy goats on productive parameters, milk
composition, rumen fluid evaluation and hematological profile. The experiment
was conducted in the sheep-farming sector of the IFPB - Sousa and the
experimental trial was arranged in double latin square. The treatments were: T0
= no inclusion of Erva-cidreira in the diet; T30 = inclusion of 30 grams of Erva380
cidreira in the diet; T60 = inclusion of 60 grams of Erva-cidreira in the diet and
T90 = inclusion of 90 grams of Erva-cidreira in the diet. The variables studied
were: Water intake, CMS, CMO, CMM, CNT, CPB, CFN, CFDA, CEE, EA, CA,
milk production and composition (pH, Fat, Protein, Density, Dornic, Cryoscopy,
Total Solids and Non-fat Solids), rumen fluid parameters (pH, PRAM,
sedimentation, flotation, viscosity, coloration, presence, size and motility of
infusoria) and hematological profile (Total erythrocyte count, total leucocytes
count, total protein and hematocrit). The variables of water consumption, nutrient
consumption, AE, CA, milk production and composition were analyzed using the
statistical package R Core Team (2020), subjected to analysis of variance and
regression, with means compared by the Tukey test at 5% probability. As for
quantitative analyses of rumen liquid (pH, PRAM, sedimentation, flotation) and
the variables of the hematological profile, they were evaluated by analysis of
variance and the means compared by the Tukey test at 5% and regression
analysis through the REG of SAS. The rumen fluid qualitative data (Color,
viscosity, motility and live infusoria) were log transformed and then subjected to
analysis by Pearson's chi-square test with degree of freedom equal to 1 and an
error of 0.05 using PROC FREQ of SAS (2002). There was no significant effect
for water consumption. There was significant difference (P<0.05) in CMS, CNT
and CPB. No significant effect (P>0.05) was observed for CMO, CMM, CFDN,
CFDA and CEE. The C.A and E.A showed significant differences among
treatments (P>0.05). Milk production and fat corrected milk production was
significantly higher (P<0.05) for the animals that received lemongrass in the diet.
There were no statistical differences (P>0.05) for pH, Acidity D°, protein,
cryoscopy, Total Solids, Non-fat solids and Density values. Physicochemical
analysis of rumen fluid showed similarity (P>0.05) in pH, PRAM and
sedimentation/flotation values. The subjective variables of rumen liquid showed
similar results (P>0.05). It was possible to verify a slightly viscous consistency,
olive green coloration and characteristic odor. There was no significant difference
for the size and motility of live infusoria. No significant effect (P>0.05) was found
for RBCs, WBCs, globular volume and total proteins. Erva-cidreira influenced the
CMS, CNT, CPB, CA, EF and PL. In view of this, up to 90 grams of Erva-cidreira
s inclusion is recommended in the diet of dairy goats.
