The increasing demand for high-speed oscillators for generating reference signals has
driven the popularity of ring oscillators. In this context, this work proposes the design of
a ring oscillator using advanced node technology, based on a GPDK made available by
Cadence. Analog integrated circuit development tools, such as Virtuoso from Cadence,
were used to design both the schematic and layout of the oscillator, as well as for design
veriĄcation and simulation to validate the circuit. The simulation results demonstrate
that the oscillator has a frequency of around 2.4 GHz and a deterministic jitter of 88 ps
considering a typical process and temperature of 25◇. It is concluded that this oscillator
can be used as a clock generator in applications that demand high frequencies, but where
signal accuracy is not so critical.
