Resumen:
The analysis of the interaction between steel and concrete in a structural project is crucial
for the safety, strength, and stability of buildings. To ensure this safety, the NBR
6118:2023 standard defines the limit states, whether "ultimate" or "service," to assess the
minimum structural requirements. The objective of the study is to analyze how the tensile
strength of CA-50 and CA-50 S/AR reinforcing bars behaves according to the methodology
described by the NBR 6118:2023, recommended for the evaluation of the serviceability
limit state due to excessive deformations (ELS-DEF) and for the assessment of the limit
state of crack opening (ELS-W). In this context, although higher strength results in a
reduction of the steel area when using CA-50 S/AR bars, it also leads to an increase in
deformations and crack opening in the beams.
