Resumo:
The problem considerad in this work is the optimal facility location, more particulary, the Transfer Stations in solid waste collection problems. The major aim is to determine
the optimal location of the transfer stations in such a way as to minimize the overall cost of the system including the construction and operating cost of the transfer stations as well as the transportation costs before and the construction.
The model used in this study is solved by linear programming this is, by linearization of the construction, maintenance, and transportation costs involved. Observing that for each selection of possible transfer stations the problem reducer to finding a minimal cost flow, it's choosen as appropriate out-of kilter algorithm and, in order to reduce the number of possible selection, we choose a brnach and bound algorithm to avoid enumeration if possible.
The results show that construction of transfer stations is useful in case that the city is sufficiently large.
