Resumen:
This study aims to analyze the use of heat-resistant cables instead of common cables, using the Ceará Mirim II – 500/230kV substation as the object of study. To this end, definitions of heat-resistant cables and their characteristics and properties were studied and presented, in addition to concepts for dimensioning busbars in substations. With this information, a study of the substation and its components before the change was made and the purpose of the change was assessed. From this, equivalent components were chosen so that a comparative analysis could be made with each of the cases. Based on this information, the impacts of this change were evaluated, considering structural stresses, effective increase in power transmission capacity, cost resulting from the replacement, among other factors. Finally, the feasibility of this change was discussed, extending the discussion to more general cases of other substations.
