Abstract:
This final paper addresses the challenges that higher education institutions face due to budgetary rigidity and poor management of public resources, which limit their expansion. To address these limitations, the study proposes the adoption of self-generation systems using photovoltaic solar energy as a strategy to reduce operating costs and contribute to promoting the financial and environmental sustainability of the institution. In addition, the study highlights success stories in federal universities, such as the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), Federal University of Grande Dourados (UFGD), Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), Federal University of Ceará (UFC), Federal University of Lavras (UFLA) and Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), which have already implemented photovoltaic systems, resulting in significant financial savings. Focusing on the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG), the work aims to s-tructure an investment proposal that analyzes the economic viability of a photovoltaic energy generation system, using the institution's existing structure. The proposal aims to demonstrate that self-generation of energy is one of the best options for adjusting the institution's budget, reducing electricity costs and promoting a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach. In addition, the implementation of photovoltaic systems in universities not only reduces costs, but also serves as an educational and research tool for students, strengthening their academic and professional training.
