Abstract:
This Course Completion Work aims to evaluate technical losses in an electrical energy distribution system with the presence of photovoltaic generation and battery energy storage systems. The study was carried out using the OpenDSS software, in which the IEEE 13-bar test system, the photovoltaic system and the energy storage system were modeled, and power and energy losses were calculated. The case studies carried out consisted of the analysis of several scenarios, in which the power variation in photovoltaic generators and battery models was evaluated. Two battery models were analyzed: Lead- acid and Lithium-ion, combining with distributed photovoltaic generators of different powers. The location of the battery models coincided with that of the photovoltaic generators, justified by the size of the load installed on each of the bars and the fact that they are considered terminal bars. From an analysis of the results of the case studies, it is highlighted that the case of high power distributed generators using lithium-ion batteries to reduce losses, which indicated a 17.26% reduction in technical losses.
