Resumo:
In Brazil, the cities produces millions of tons of solid waste annually, however, almost
half of this production goes to inadequate places or that do not have the correct
maintenance, contributing exacerbated to the contamination of the environment. The
correct destination of these residues allows the reduction of expenses with pollution
mitigation actions. Among the inadequate places are the dumps and landfills that do not
have the proper maintenance, the main form of aggression to the environment occurs from
the leaching or carrying of the leachate, produced from the organic decomposition
processes in these aforementioned places, for surface water or ground water. The present
work aims to carry out a systematic review, through the selection and analysis of some
articles, in order to assess the influence caused by solid waste on water resources.
According to this objective, the guiding question of this work is: Does the final disposal
of solid waste influence the quality of water resources? Through the bibliographic
investigation it was possible to affirm that the solid waste when not disposed of properly
can influence the quality of the water resources, standing out mainly the pollution of the
water table.
