Resumen:
The main objective of this study was the better use of the natural resources for a part of Agreste region of the
State of Paraiba (NE of Brazil). Under this investigation the Unsupervised Classification was made for the interpretation
of Landsat – TM DATA, using Software ERDAS, Ver. 7.5. The Soils ware classified into three main groups:
Luvissolos, Neossolos Litolicos and Argissolos. The Typology Vegetation and the land use cover was divided into four
classes: Native Vegetation under Rock, Native Vegetation, Degraded areas and Agricultural areas. It was concluded that
the Landsat – TM images are more effective for the detection and evaluation of Soils, Typology vegetation Classes for
the detailed Regional Planning, Development, and Management for the Agreste region of the State of Paraiba.
