The different activities carried out by man transform landscapes according to their needs, these transformations evolve according to their activities and their development models, provide environmental benefits and damages. As a way of analyzing these damages, remote sensing is a very efficient tool. Thus, the study aimed to analyze the especial end temporal dynamics of land use and cover in the surroundings of the Arcoverde reservoir, located in the city of Condado, State Paraíba, from 1989 to 2018. To achieve this objective, the SAVI (Soil-Adjusted Vegetation Index), generated from orbital images of the Landsat 5 and Landsat 8 satellites, captured in the years 1989, 1999, 2009 and 2018, with the spatial
cut of the whole area of the city. CBERS 4 satellite images were also used in 2015, 2016 and 2018, for a 76km² (7600 hectare) polygonal space cut, with the Arcoverde reservoir as a reference. The geoprocessing data were compared with physical and socioenvironmental information of the municipality. The percentage of vegetation in the municipality increased from 44.9% in 1989 to 70.9% in 2018, in the area around the reservoir the numbers went from 74.4% in 2015 to 70.9% in 2018. It was verified that the analyzed region underwent a series of transformations due to natural and anthropic factors, but does not present significant plant losses.
