Abstract:
The student dropout in higher education institutions is becoming more frequent and this problem requires reflection on its origins and the search for more effective solutions to avoid it, since it entails damages of a social and economic nature not only to the individual who has escaped , But also the educational institution. In this context, we had as objective to analyze the conditions for the process of avoidance of higher education in the course of Social Service of the UFCG. The survey was conducted with students of Social Work course at the Federal University of Campina Grande Campus de Sousa, through a questionnaire with seventeen questions from closed questions and multiple choice, documentary research and literature of authors who weave analysis on the topic served as support for the required research. The target audience for conducting the survey in the course of Social Service was twenty-six students enrolled by the end of the second half of 2014.2, divided into three classes. Most of the students are women (92%), single / as (69%), with varying age (16 years to over 40 years) and live with their parents (65%). It is noticed that a large percentage of students of the institution in question is arising in other cities, so that many of them may have difficulties with regard to housing, the financial problems, the mobility in the city, among other problems. The struggle for the expansion of public education at all levels is associated with the struggle for measures to ensure the permanence of students in higher education.
