Resumo:
In a scenario containing an increasingly dynamic and
globalized economy, the Brand is an important instrument to induce the
acquisition of a product and/or service. It is through a Brand that the
consumer can distinguish a product and/or service that they wish to opt
for when choosing, in|uencing their level of need, desire and satisfaction.
This article carries out a survey on the records of Craft or Homemade Beer
Brands produced in the State of Paraíba, presenting a quantitative
analysis and a comparison of the position of this State on the national
scene and in the Northeast region, through information collected from
the database of the ABRACERVA – Brazilian Craft Beer Association (2017)
and AcervA Paraibana – Association of Craft Brewers of Paraíba, together with the Beer Yearbook, an annual survey produced by the Ministry of
Agriculture, Livestock and Supply – MAPA of the Federal Government,
between the years of 2000 to 2022, crossing with the trademark
registrations of the National Institute of Industrial Property – INPI.
Throughout the research, it was observed the existence of craft breweries
not registered with MAPA, being characterized as “gypsy” breweries, also
called home breweries, but which have trademark registration at the
National Institute of Intellectual Property – INPI. Through the collection of
information, it was identi{ed that the State of Paraíba is in 18th position in
the national ranking, also having a modest position when analyzed at the
regional level, placing itself in 6th position, behind economically stronger
states such as Bahia, Ceará and Pernambuco, but also behind the states
of Rio Grande do Norte and Maranhão. In the analysis, craft breweries
were found in the territory of Paraíba, highlighting the cities of João
Pessoa and Campina Grande, with the highest concentration of craft beer
producers in the State, however, there are records of craft brewers in the
regions of Brejo and Sertão Paraibano.
