Abstract:
Environmental degradation has been the subject of debate over the years, leading institutions to
incorporate sustainable practices into their activities. In this scenario, this study consists of
analyzing how the headquarters campus of the State University of Paraíba has incorporated
sustainability practices in the teaching, research, extension and management dimensions. This
is a qualitative study, using the inductive method and carrying out a case study on the UEPB
headquarters campus. Data were collected through bibliographic sources, document analysis
and interviews. From the results, it is clear that the theme of sustainability is mentioned in
sections throughout the Institutional Development Plan. The institution analyzed has different
sustainability practices related to the A3P axes. In teaching, it occurs more significantly in the
courses: Bachelor's Biological Sciences, Sanitary and Environmental Engineering, Psychology
and Bachelor's Biological Sciences. There are many research and extension projects related to
sustainability practices. In management, it comes from sectors such as the Dean of People
Management and the Dean of Infrastructure. Managers have knowledge about sustainability
and described actions and sectors for the sustainable practices questioned. However, there are
budget obstacles, bidding processes and people's awareness. There is a need to integrate the
dimensions analyzed in the dissemination of adopted practices. As a contribution, this research
contributes to expanding the debate about sustainability in public universities in Paraíba and
provides a holistic analysis of the sustainable practices adopted by UEPB, which can be used
for decision-making by university managers.
