Resumo:
The history of electricity is a fascinating journey that goes back thousands of years,
from the earliest observations of electrical phenomena to sophisticated modern
technologies. Over the centuries, human curiosity and the quest to understand nature
have led to significant discoveries and advancements in the field of electricity. From
this, this work traces a timeline of the evolution of human knowledge about electricity,
from ancient civilizations to contemporary scientific discoveries. It explores how the
understanding of electricity has been shaped by important historical figures and
scientific milestones, from the early experiments with amber to the advances of the
century XIX. Furthermore, the relationship between the history of electricity and natural
phenomena such as lightning, thunder, auroras, Saint Elmo's fire, sonoluminescence,
triboluminescence and cosmic rays is investigated. The work analyzes how these
phenomena have been perceived and interpreted throughout history, influencing
culture, religion, and scientific development. Therefore, this work aims to make a brief
historical and bibliographic survey about electricity and understand the physical nature
through some electrical phenomena observed in nature, providing the reader with an
overview of the evolution of electricity and understanding of physics associated with
natural phenomena. To carry out this work, a bibliographic review was carried out in
books, articles, theses, monographs and websites. Therefore, this study leads us to
reflect on the importance of scientific knowledge and technological innovation to drive
human progress and we recognize the complexity and beauty of the electrical
phenomena studied.
