Resumo:
This work aims to provide an overview of the Systems Analysis applied to the automatic control and processing of journal articles, papers, medical files, books and other printed data. It presents, initially, the bibliometric concepts of documentary system, keyword, frequency of occurrence and co-occurrence of keyword, coefficient of similarity. Next, the main processes involved in the subsystems of document acquisition, cataloging and circulation are analyzed, as well as the processes that make up the bibliographic information retrieval subsystems. The exhibition is illustrated with two examples of analysis, one taken from information retrieval and another from document management. Also discussed are general aspects related to technical evaluation and cost-benefit evaluation of documentary systems.
