Resumo:
The related research aims to analyze the Harm Reduction Policy offered as a treatment strategies with users of psychoactive substances in the Psychosocial Care Center Alcohol and Other Drugs, especially in CAPS 'AD Walter Sarmento de Sá in the city of Sousa / PB. Considering that the use of both licit and illicit drugs, becomes a major health problem and there is an urgent need to create and carry out effective public policies for the treatment of combat or control drug addiction, always with the ultimate goal of promoting the the user's health. The methodology used was a qualitative research, based on the stage and bibliographical experiments to understand the whole historical process of drug use, the Psychiatric Reform, until the creation of the CAPS 'AD with a new strategy to promote health and to recognize you, your individuality, your needs. We conclude that the harm reduction strategy enhances the user's choices and is a health care practice which aims to ensure the rights of dependent citizens, seeing health as a right of the by proposing a better quality of life and citizenship, even if minimally.
