Resumen:
Visual Vernacular (VV) is a genre in which deaf subjects express themselves in a specific way
with a strong poetic mark in several narratives. According to Sutton-Spence (2021), VV is
a technique of telling a story in a cinematographic, visual way, without the use of vocabulary
of sign languages. The research in question was carried out based on the analysis of the video
"Unexpected Moment"1, a VV narrative production by the twins
deaf Ouahid and its general objective was: to descriptively analyze the narrative in Visual
Vernacular by the deaf Ouahid twins, titled "Unexpected Moment 1". And we define while
specific objectives are the following: locate the elements of VV in the poetic narrative; describe
how the elements of VV are present in the text. In any case, our study is justified by
be a topic that is still little explored, contributing to teachers being able to stimulate
investigation and production of this narrative style with their students and, consequently,
promoting knowledge and creations in VV, recordings, video recording and dissemination in
all social media. The methodology used was exploratory and descriptivist which, according to
with Gil (2008), its quality is the search for a general vision that comes close to this topic
specific. To this end, the research was divided into stages, namely: 1. choice of work; 2. Definition
categories based on elements present in VV; 3. analysis and description of these elements.
The results allow us to see that the studied production contains all the VV elements described
in detail, thus contributing to future research, as well as expanding the
knowledge of education professionals on the topic. Therefore, encouraging teaching and
productions of deaf and hearing students as active subjects in the dissemination of this form of
deaf literary creation.
