The Northeast is the most promising Brazilian region, presenting 53% of the country's wind potential and an accumulated
wind potential of 75.05 GW for wind speeds of at least 7.0 m/s, at 50 m height. This work aimed, through geotechnology,
to spatialize the onshore wind potential of the State of Paraíba estimated by the Global Wind Atlas. The GWA® digital
database was used with estimated data on average wind speed (m/s) (wind potential) and average wind energy density
(W/m2) with a resolution of 250 m. Using QGIS®, maps of average wind speed and average wind energy density were
created, classified and the respective histograms were generated. In the statistical treatment, descriptive analysis of the
data was carried out. The results demonstrated that the use of geotechnology was able to map wind potential quickly and
accurately. The geostatistics results demonstrated the variability of wind potential. The highest values of wind speed
(16.22 m/s) and average power density (3,491.29 W/m2) occurred in the simulation for a 200- meter-high mast. The microregions of Esperança, Curimataú Oriental and Seridó Ocidental Paraibano presented the greatest potential for installing
wind turbines.
