This paper addresses the preservation of industrial heritage, taking as a case study the former Marques de Almeida Factory, located in the Boninas Region, in Campina Grande, Paraíba. Based on contemporary theories of preservation of historical heritage, such as those presented by Françoise Choay (1999), the study investigates the transformations in the concept of heritage and its recognition over time. The general objective is to propose an intervention that rescues the industrial character of the Marques de Almeida Factory, contributing to the socioeconomic revitalization of the urban center of Campina Grande. The specific objectives include: carrying out an anamnesis of the building diagnosing the main structural and aesthetic damages, discussing the legal and physical conservation issues and proposing a preliminary revitalization study. The methodology involves documentary and bibliographic research to understand the original design of the building and its insertion in the history of industrial heritage, adopting an analysis of the dimensions of Afonso (2019), which addresses normative, historical, spatial, tectonic, functional, formal and conservation aspects. The revitalization proposal considers the preservation of the original architectural features, while suggesting new uses that meet contemporary demands, such as commercial and cultural spaces, respecting the history and identity of the site. This study therefore highlights the importance of an integrated approach that considers both the historical aspects and the contemporary needs of the city, providing a model for future interventions in abandoned industrial heritage sites.
