Abstract:
The Incas, a civilization that inhabited the Andes region whose headquarters
were located in present-day Peru, became the largest South American empire.
Known for revering the sun, their daily activities, their customs and their beliefs
were related to the phenomena that nature provides. Although the duration of
their empire was not extensive, due to the arrival of Spanish colonizers around
the 16th century, they had considerable knowledge about solar movements and
took advantage of this information to establish periods of food cultivation and
religious rituals in favor of the star. . Based on this, this work aims to understand
how Andean indigenous people saw the Universe, contextualizing their
historical, social and cultural issues with their beliefs. As it is a topic little
covered in our language, this monograph was prepared through a
bibliographical review of works by foreign authors on the content under study,
resulting in material in the national language that can be used as a complement
to assist in understanding the cosmology of ancient societies.
