The production of Visual Vernacular - VV in Deaf Literature proposes a reflective state, ceasing to be just a translation and interpretation of texts, by presenting itself as a production with specific characteristics. The object of study of this research is the student's knowledge of Libras in relation to VV in literature. With this, we set out as a general objective to investigate the learning process about Visual Vernacular of deaf and hearing students from the 2nd to the 9th period of the Libras Language course at the Federal University of Campina Grande – UFCG. The study has as its theoretical reference the contribution of Sutton-Spence (2021), Mourão (2011), Gesser (2009), among others. In the methodology, we refer to qualitative research, based on Gil (2008), using a questionnaire as a research instrument and thereby mapping this study. Through this study, we seek to show the importance of rescuing through knowledge of VV for learning sign language. As support, we observe the importance of learning about Visual Vernacular in higher education, so that deaf people, through visual literature, have access to literary works that value Brazilian culture.
