With the growing demand in the national energy sector, specific studies are needed to determine the ampacity of transmission and distribution lines. This paper aims to present a significant contribution to the recapacitation of TLs, or even the prorogation of these works, discussing the deterministic model for the calculation of ampacity of electrical conductors for overhead lines, using a case study of a local TL. The model approaches the main mechanisms of heat gain and dissipation in conductors: joule effect; solar radiation; convection; and irradiation, taking into account the geographical and meteorological parameters.
