Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the duties and responsibilities of the social worker developed in CAPSi - Psychosocial Care Center of Children John Paul II, the city of Sousa PB. This work was developed from questions aroused in my internship period on the responsibilities and powers of the social worker that took place in that institution during two periods of the Social Service course UFCG, lasting eight months. This work will make a brief history of health policy and mental health policy a greater emphasis on the changes that occurred in these two policies from the 1970. Address decade still laws and ordinances regulating public services in mental health after the psychiatric reform Brazilian, to highlight the CAPS, as well as the rights of the mentally conquered disorders. The methodology was qualitative, using literature and consequently the internship experience experienced in Children and Youth Psychosocial Care Center in the city of Sousa PB. Will be discussed the importance of the social worker in this occupational social space as well as its participation in the carrier treating mental disorder with relatives.
