Resumo:
The present work is to analyze how the covers of G Magazine (1997-2007), Brazilian magazine dedicated to the public LGBTT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Transsexuals). We sought to question some identity constructions taken as naturalized and not contrived, especially the identity of the manly man who, on the covers of the magazine will be represented by models that forge a virility whether it be through clothing, body positions and facial expressions. Chose to examine covers the fact that they, alone, already sell the magazine, so the production of those passes for tightening, besides, images not only serve to illustrate, they have information which, when decoded, pierce the image itself, because, first of all, image is a symbol. By bringing in its covers men who enact the virility, the magazine contributes to the identity of their potential consumers is
influenced not only for the virile, but also the model of "ideal" body, ie the body you want and desired body. But at the same time it shows only manly men or virility that simulate on their covers, G Magazine has just contributing to the image of socalled non-virile be dismissed, denied. The research presented here is interpretive slant where we use discourse analysis as the basis of covers of G Magazine, the idea of representation brought by several theorists, which include Roger CHARTIER (1990) that will enhance, in their analysis, the non-verbal signs. The proposed work presented here was developed based on the discussion of photographic representation, semiotics and homoeroticism.
