Resumo:
The main objective of this research was to study the utilization of domestic appliances and electric motors in the re gion comprised by the "Cooperativa de Eletrificação Rural do Va le do Rio Grande (CERVARIG)" with its head quarters in Lavras . The sample were 60 farmers (15%, of the universe) intervied direc_ tly through the survey method and these farmers were divided in to four classes (I to IV) according to the installed power as su ah: 5, 10, 15 and above 15 KVA.
In alasses I, II anã III there was a high peraentage of single-phase Unes while in alass IV prevails three-phase Unes. In general one aan say that farmers are pleased with the way the oooperative is managed. The eleotriaity is very well used and among the electria applianaes, refrigerators are most used [67%) followed by TV (62%) electria iron (57%), radio (55%) and final ly blender (45%).
Considering the average of eaah alass there is a positi ve aorrelation between number of electria applianaes and instai led power, anã between electria applianaes power and consumption (linear dependence in alass I). The larger the number of elea tric motors bought the larger the number of electria applianaes considering the period 1964/1972.
In alasses I and II it was found an average of one elea trio motor per farm while in alasses III and IV, 2 (three) and 7 (seven) motors respeativelly. The average for all alasses was 2.71 motors per farm. j4s the installed power inoreases so does the number of electria motors and their power. Taking into acco_ unt the average of eaah alass it was found a positive aorrelati on between consumption and motor power. In alasses I and II pre vail motors with 5.0 and 7.5 HP respeativelly while in alasses III and TV 10.0 HP, with an average of 5.78 HP per motor. Motors with 7.5 HP are the most common and these motors are most used in piak-axe (80%) followed by water pumps and grinding. The mui tiple regression study showed that in alass I consumption is most due to the use of electria applianaes while in alass IV through the use of electria motors. If we take into aaaount all classes the use of motors are the one which most influenae the aonsumpti on.
