Resumo:
Phenomena such as turnaway and career transition (turnover) are increasingly frequent in software development companies, and one of the main reasons may be related to the lack of identification with the area. Investigating these phenomena in the behavioral context through the individual's career anchors may be essential for companies to improve their career plans, corporate policy and retention policies. This study aims to investigate the relationship between career turnaway and the career anchors of former developers. For this purpose, the Career Anchor test was applied to 15 former developers from different regions of Brazil through a Survey in order to identify data on the software development process from semi-structured interviews conducted, transcribed and coded by other researchers in the area. Based on the data obtained, we hope that these results will contribute to designing effective strategies for companies to retain their employees, in addition to minimizing the social cost of career abandonment of those developers and encouraging future research.
