Resumen:
The number of students enrolled in higher education institutions has grown substantially in recent years, notably due to actions to expand access, especially for students who graduated from public schools and in conditions of socioeconomic vulnerability. However, simply guaranteeing admission is not enough for students in these conditions. It is necessary to ensure that these students will complete their education adequately. Even with student assistance programs and the efforts of education coordinators to prevent student dropout, this rate is still high and its causes are still largely ignored. In this context, this paper aims to present an overview of the dropout situation of students in the Computer Science course at UFCG, considering demographic factors, through a quantitative approach. The aim is to understand whether there are correlations between these factors and student dropout rates in the course.
