Joias contemporâneas: mapeamento da produção no território paraibano

Abstract

The present research, an applied nature and with a qualitative and exploratory appro ach, is situated at the intersection of jewelry design, design for sustainability, and de sign and territory. The objective of this research is to understand the functioning of the contemporary jewelry sector in Paraíba through mapping, which also characterized the profile of producers and contemporary jewelry productions in the state and identified the role of designers in the area. Additionally, it conducted a sustainability analysis based on environmental, social, and economic dimensions. To achieve this, bibliogra phic research and field data collection were conducted, culminating in a multiple case study where the observed productions were evaluated based on their predominant materialities using a tool developed by the research. In the end, the realities found in each of the productive links in the Paraíba context were presented. The conclusions also include guidelines for the production of sustainable contemporary jewelry.
