Resumen:
The objective of this work was to develop a recovery proposal for the riparian forest of
the <Riacho das Oiticicas= on the UFCG Campus in Pombal-PB. The methodology
adopted was developed through bibliographical research, field visits,
photodocumentation, geoprocessing tools, floristic and faunal surveys and
environmental impact assessment tools with classification criteria for impacts
considered significant. The study has the following structure: delimitation and mapping
of the riparian forest area; diagnosis of pre-degradation and post-degradation scenarios;
definition of a recovery strategy and proposal for environmental monitoring. Riparian
forests are essential for protecting and maintaining the environmental quality of water
bodies and for ecological balance. These plant formations have been degraded
recurrently in a process with a worrying scale and intensity. The results obtained are
intended to contribute to the recovery and maintenance of the environmental quality of
the study area, especially water resources, flora and fauna, and also enable compliance
with current legislation, since riparian forests are protected by law.
