Abstract:
A text is conceived through its relationship with other texts and with society, as well as its verbal
and/or non-verbal elements that, together, play a significant role in reading. In this context, the
present research aims to analyze the meanings underlying to the relationship between the verbal
and visual elements contained in Instapoetry feeds on the @retalhosemoradas profile, taking
into account the theoretical assumptions presented by Plastic Semiotics in order to reflect about
Instapoetry feeds as possible readings for Portuguese classes in Basic Education.. For this
purpose, we illustrate the concepts of textual analysis, focusing on Plastic Semiotics, which its
derived from Discursive Semiotics; we also discuss the concepts of discursive genres in the
digital field and the treatment given by legal documents; we describe meanings that emerge
from the semi-symbolic relationships in the Instapoetry feeds; and we reflect about the use of
Instapoetry feeds as a possibility of reading in Portuguese Language classes in Basic Education.
In this regard, we use as a theoretical foundation the Plastic Semiotics of Floch (1987), by the
studies of Pietroforte (2004) and Teixeira (2008), which is an unfolding of the Discursive
Semiotics of Greimas (1979), and also in the studies undertaken by Barros (2005) and Fiorin
(2022). We also use Bakhtin (2011), Marcuschi (2008) and Bazerman (2011), for the notion of
speech genres; Lévy (1999) and Marcuschi (2004) for the presence of genres in the digital field;
Recuero (2009) and Andrade (2020) regarding social media and Instagram feeds; Silva (2020)
and Oliveira and Fazano (2020) for observations of Instapoetry and, finally, the Brazilian
National Curricular Parameters (1998) and the Brazilian National Common Curricular Base
(2018) for observations regarding the treatment of reading and speech genres in legal
documents for basic education in Brazil. The research methodology that we use focuses on
discourse analysis, with a qualitative approach and applied nature. The corpus of our analysis
consists of two differents Instapoetry feeds present on the @retalhosemoradas profile on the
Instagram platform, selected from a universe of 225 feeds. The categories of analysis are plastic
formants in their eidetic, photochromatic and topological dimensions. Thereby, as a result, we
observed that the Instapoetry feeds convey imagery and linguistic resources in their
construction and, based on the verbal-visual relationship, explore different themes, such as the
transformations experienced by the human being throughout life and the love relationships
between two subjects. Therefore, as a result, we found that the plane of expression plays a
significant role in the construction of meanings of a text.
