Abstract:
This paper presents a systematic review on the impact of short video applications, such as TikTok and Kwai, for example, on the mental health and well-being of users, analyzing their relationship with the characteristics of these applications. The rapid growth and global spread of these social media platforms have raised concerns about their psychological effects, especially among young people. Therefore, this review is based on a careful analysis of academic studies, empirical research, and evidence, used to examine the negative aspects associated with the use of these platforms. The aim is to analyze central aspects of these applications, including infinite scrolling, the sharing of short videos with content that represents significant stimulation for the brain, and recommendation algorithms, analyzing how these aspects impact the user's mental health. In summary, this systematic review contributes to a deeper understanding of the psychological effects of this type of application, providing a solid basis for reflection on practices and policies aimed at promoting a positive and healthy experience in digital social networks.
