Resumo:
The excessive exploitation of natural resources and various forms of pollution in
the context of capitalist development have contributed to climate change and,
consequently, to the occurrence of socio-environmental imbalances and catastrophes. These problems have had a broader and more serious impact on vulnerable human settlements. In this scenario, the vision of Good Living stands out as one of the most significant alternatives for the construction of new lifestyles based on harmony between human beings and the environment and on democratic and community practices of socio-territorial organization. This study aims to investigate some knowledge and propose strategies related to the Good Living approach in the Terra Nova community, in João Pessoa/PB, Brazil. considering that the settlement is inserted in a context of risk and social vulnerability of socio-environmental exploitation and that some are already underway community initiatives, such as an urban agriculture project. The assignment was developed on two fronts, one of studies and the other of proposals. For the studies and research part, a bibliographic review was carried out with emphasis on the themes of Good Living and the urbanization of settlements, to consolidate articulations and theoretical approach. Then, documentary and cartographic surveys were carried out, to carry out analyses on the problems, strengths and potentials of the Terra Nova Community. These studies supported the development of strategies and guidelines that were proposed in the work for the urban and socio-environmental requalification of the Terra Nova Community based on the Good Living approach.
