Resumo:
The agroecological transition is challenging for family farmers, they face difficulties in
implementing sustainable land use and management practices, especially in the semiarid region, and rural extension actions are sustainable strengthening strategies.
Based on this scenario, this work aimed to analyze the perception of farmers and
identify the practices of use and management of soils adopted, considering the process
of agroecological transition in family farming and its productive, environmental and
socioeconomic conditions, in activities developed in the communities after the
implementation of the Project. of Agroecological Transition, developed by the
Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of Paraíba - EMATER PB. The
research consisted of a bibliographic analysis and the contract document No. 108-
2014 EMATER-PB / SAF / MDA - Agroecology, seeking to work on knowledge in five
axes of actions aimed at family farmers: the agroecological transition; sustainability of
family agro-ecosystems; equity in gender relations; rural youth and food, nutritional
security and income generation. It was found that the interviewees participate in the
public policies 'Bolsa Família', 'Garantia Safra', 'PRONAF' among others and that with
the activities of the Contract, there was an increase in the dissemination of agroecological practices for the use and management of land in properties, with 89.84%
adopting three or more sustainable technologies, such as preserving seeds in pet´s
bottles and forming seed banks, organic fertilization, productive backyards, formation
of weeds, implantation of polyculture and organic garden systems. Thus, it is
considered that the Contract was successful and that the extension activity has
promoted new possibilities of empowerment to the people of the countryside.
