Abstract:
The agricultural way of farming, based on the principles of Agroecology, which excel in environmental care, can be enhanced by the introduction of a simple and affordable social technology for farmers, such as the Integrated and Sustainable Agroecological Production System (PAIS). In addition to favoring environmental preservation, reduces production costs and increases the income of peasants through fair and solidary trade. The research aimed to identify rural communities in the municipality of Remígio (PB) that received PAIS Productive Units and how they were empowered in the perspectives of the Solidary Economy. The method of qualitative approach was adopted, with emphasis on field research. Data collection was done through the application of questionnaires, interviews and direct observation, to highlight the reality of the communities. A visit was made to three productive units of PAIS, in order to get a better understanding of their operation, as well as visits to the local Agroecological Fair, where the food produced under the principles of the organic system is carried out. From the results obtained it was verified that the farmers produce healthy foods for their subsistence and also to optimize their income through the marketing of the surplus. It was seen that they are very satisfied with the PAIS units, because through the insertion of the project they managed to improve their quality of life. The PAIS Project is a social technology that brings great economic contribution, has high environmental appeal and great social scope, besides strengthening social solidarity and distributive justice, according to the perspective of the Solidary Economy.
